Well, May has come and gone, I have been out of my mind busy the last three weeks, and it appears that our only serious competitor, Dr. Biggles, has been about the same, so we have no soup recipes. I have the cookbook prize in my possession, so the contest will happen someday, but perhaps the thing to do is table it until soup season resumes in the autumn. Perhaps by then we may have a little time to ourselves to tinker with creamy chickeny concoctions for the general betterment of mankind. Tune in next October.
whaa! wait, i missed out!! i’ve been busy too and haven’t been keeping up! i feel like i’ve let you and all those cream of chicken soup fans down. i’m back, i’m pepped, i’m ready to make some cream of chicken soup! except that as i write this, it is about 85 degrees and disgustingly humid, and the thought of cream of chicken soup makes me want to lie down and groan. maybe you’re right about tabling it.
what about summer cream of chicken soup? chilled, with cucumbers and stuff? is that totally disgusting? i’m going to experiment.
ps – i made a sweet potato/chicken chili from the whole foods cookbook recently that wasn’t half bad. but no cream was involved.
To make matters not so easy, our local Trader Joes stopped carrying creme fraiche. I’ll have to make my own, eh. I wonder if duck demi glace can go in chicken soup? Yeah, I dunno man.
