WOW, my site looks like ass in Internet Explorer! My profoundest apologies to everyone who reads me with IE. I have been using Mozilla/Firefox since I finally got too fed up with IE, and never bothered to surf my more-or-less standard MovableType styling with another browser. No wonder so many bloggers use a narrow column of body text — IE can’t seem to fit my tables in the window. Gah! When I get a free moment I’ll try and tweak things to improve readability for those of you stuck with the Evil Empire’s browser. Bear with me till then…
someone was trying to read my blog in netscape the other day. he called me over and showed me. It looked dreadful! I was peturbed and thought I’d done something terrible. I went and checked a lot of other blogs from all different sources in netscape after that and there wasn’t one blog which didnt have any major problems. Hopefully hardly anyone uses netscape anymore…
Oh, don’t be so dramatic and elitist. IE is a perfectly good browser used by 90% of the web-surfing public. Shame on you for not developing your site as IE friendly.
Oh, excuse me for assuming that a product as widely used as MovableType would have made its basic templates compatible with IE. And frankly, maybe having some sites look like crap in IE will help more people realize how much it sucks and how many free alternatives there are. I *will* fix things up as best I can out of courtesy for my readers, who may as easily be stuck at work with a corporate standard browser, but the fact remains that in my experience Mozilla’s browsers are better, more convenient to use, and less buggy.
My local McDonalds does a lot more business than Chez Panisse, but that doesn’t mean McDonald’s has better food.
Here, here, mkb. IE compatability is something to strive for if you want readers but it is sad because it does suck and probably will until it steals enough properties from firefox.
